Solar Hot Water & other Efficiencies can save Multifamily Buildings Billions a Year
January 26, 2012Energy efficiency upgrades in multifamily buildings could save building owners and residents up to $3.4 billion nationwide, according to a report released today by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) which demonstrates that cost-effective efficiency improvements can deliver savings of 15% to 30% in multifamily buildings. Meanwhile the USGBC recently released another report which estimates that 1 million jobs could be created and $130 Billion per year saved if the Obama administration used executive authority to promote efficiency and sustainability in our buildings overall.
So there is clearly a LOT of money to be saved here.
Solar Hot Water is one of the largest efficiency measures a multifamily building can make, as hot water accounts for up to 30% of the energy used by these buildings. And solar hot water was recently rated the “most cost-effective solar project” by ARRA in awarding a grant to a New Hampshire hospital.
With our partner Promise Energy, we're offering no-money down financing for qualified multifamily solar hot water systems in California and other states. These systems, combined with other efficiency measures can save building owners billions of dollars each year.
